'LONG TERM CARE BADGE' OUTLINE
INTRODUCTION...

The first 11 pages of the 'RR&T Badge Policy' discuss the basics: like goals, mindset, behaviours and then a bit about the law and how to build relationships with vets (touching on the support package that we offer to support rehabbers in this) as well as some info on the emotional support that the WCB hopes to offer. You can check out some screenshots below.

HOW ARE WILDLIFE RESCUES/REHABBERS SUPPORTED IN NOT ONLY GETTNG THE BADGE BUT ALSO KEEPING IT AND MAINTAINING STANDARDS AS WELL AS ACCESSING ALL OF THE LOGISTICAL SUPPORT?

APPLYING ANONYMOUSLY - Wildlife Rescues/Rehabbers can apply for the badge by contacting Alana at alana@wildlifecarebadge.com. [RESCUES/REHABBERS WHO ARE CONCERNED THAT THEY WON’T MEET MINIMUM STANDARDS CAN APPLY ANONYMOUSLY AND EVEN SIT THE EXAM ANONYMOUSLY. THEY CAN THEN ANNOUNCE THEIR SUCCESS IF THEY GET THE BADGE AND NO ONE NEEDS TO KNOW IF THEY NEED SOME EXTRA HELP - THEY WILL JUST BE OFFERED TIME WITH A MENTOR TO GET UP TO STANDARD]

PREMISES SUPPORT PRE-BADGE - If you are worried about your set up BEFORE your veterinary visit and are also afraid of being criticised by other rescues, you can put in a request - to Alana - to be linked up with another Rescue/Rehabber (with the badge already) who is willing to mentor and who will jump online with you for a video call as you walk around your space, getting advice. THESE ARRANGEMENTS AND CALLS ARE TOTALLY CONFIDENTIAL so no other rescue has to know that you have asked for help.

MENTORING PRE-BADGE - If you feel like you need additional training to get the Badge, you can ANONYMOUSLY contact Alana and be put in touch with a Mentor (hopefully local to you).

MAINTAINING STANDARDS - If you are struggling to keep up standards because you are overwhelmed (after you have the Badge)... [BOUNDARIES & BALANCE WORKSHOPS ARE BEING LOOKED AT TO HELP DECIDE HOW TO MAINTAIN THE RESCUE AT A HIGH STANDARD. PERHAPS IT MEANS HAVING THE EMOTIONAL AND GROUP SUPPORT TO CLOSE YOUR DOORS FOR 2 WEEKS/SHORTENING YOUR HOURS TEMPORARILY WHILE FINDING MORE HELP?]

EMOTIONAL SUPPORT

RESCUE RELIEF - Rescue Relief (Compassion Fatigue) Sessions.

SUPPORTIVE COMMUNITY - Rehabbers and Rescues would ALSO become part of a MORE supportive community where BEHAVIOURS are starting to change and Rescuers/Rehabbers/Vets are more empathetic and transparent with one another, due to everyone feeling able to trust one another to a set minimum standard.
