Notifiable Diseases...

Do you know what a notifiable disease is?

These are infections that can have serious consequences for both human and animal health. If you encounter one, reporting it is crucial to help authorities track, control, and prevent the spread, safeguarding both human and animal well-being.

Notifiable diseases you might come across in wildlife rehabilitation include:

  • Avian Influenza

  • Bovine Tuberculosis

  • Foot and Mouth Disease

If you suspect a notifiable disease in your animals you must report it immediately by calling the Defra Rural Services Helpline on 03000 200 301. In Wales, call 0300 303 8268. In Scotland, contact your local Field Services Office. Failure to do so is an offence.
